Metzger Autoteile commences construction of
state-of-the-art logistics centre.

Filderstadt/Germany, 11 March 2025 – With a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, Metzger Autoteile has officially marked the start of the expansion of its headquarters at the Stuttgart Airport business park, located in Filderstadt. Together with Filderstadt’s Lord Mayor Christoph Traub, the internationally successful family business celebrated the beginning of construction on an additional, state-of-the-art, fully automated logistics centre, sending a clear signal of continued growth and regional commitment.
"With the new logistics centre, we will be able to organise the storage and distribution of our products even more efficiently," stated Marion Metzger and Isabel Brockmann-Metzger, Managing Directors of Werner Metzger GmbH. "This development provides the foundation to sustainably continue our growth and further strengthen our position in the automotive aftermarket."
Lord Mayor Christoph Traub highlighted the company's significance for the region during the groundbreaking ceremony: “The existing company building and the scale of the site designated for expansion underscore the strength and dedication to development that define this enterprise. It is a distinctive hallmark of how thoughtfully and with remarkable foresight this family-owned business is managed. Filderstadt is proud to have Metzger Autoteile at this location.”
The project includes the construction of a new warehouse and adjoining office complex on a site of approximately 10,000 m². The facility will feature a fully automated pallet warehouse providing over 6,000 additional storage spaces. Moreover, the existing AutoStore system will undergo a substantial expansion from 30,000 to over 110,000 boxes. The new office complex will also provide more than 2,000 m² of additional workspace.
A notable feature is the Metzger Competence Centre (MCC), an innovative training facility comprising a showroom and an integrated vehicle lift. The MCC will deliver added value to customers and industry partners through practical product demonstrations and advanced training opportunities.
The new buildings are also exemplary in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. Heating and cooling requirements will be fully met by an environmentally friendly air-to-water heat pump. The automated logistics systems will be powered by a large-scale 500 kWp photovoltaic system, and the building will feature a green roof extending over 1,000 m².
The project was designed entirely in-house by Jürgen Bender and Niklas Ibach in collaboration with logistics partner Kardex and construction company Goldbeck. Completion is planned for May 2026, with logistics operations scheduled to go live in September 2026.
Werner Metzger GmbH is managed by the second generation, sisters Marion Metzger and Isabel Brockmann-Metzger. Since 2021, the third generation, represented by Theresa Rudolph and Niklas Ibach, has also assumed key leadership roles. For 45 years, the family-run company has supplied wholesale customers in over 55 countries with high-quality automotive parts, electronic components, and niche products – often as a pioneer in the independent aftermarket.
With 200 employees, the company is already among the largest employers in Filderstadt. This expansion will provide additional capacity for future growth and constitutes a targeted investment in the long-term development of the company and its workforce.
